What is mica?
Mica is a set or group of aluminum silicate minerals bearing similar chemical composition and physical properties and having laminated lattice type internal texture with almost perfect bottom cleavage.

The most common minerals of the mica family are muscovite (potassic or white mica), phlogopite (magnesia or brown mica), meroxene (ferro-magnesia mica) and lithium mica (lithium-bearing mica).

Naturally, mica varies significantly in the form of occurrence. By size of chip, mica can be grouped as large mica and flaky mica which are generally found in granite pegmatite, schist or clay deposits.

Well crystallized, large enough mica is generally used in electric insulating material or ground into powder in water as medium as pigment for cosmetics or high-grade coating. Smaller, flaky fragmentary mica is generally ground into powder and used as an industrial mineral filling.

Muscovite is used in the largest quantity in industrial applications. The second is phlogopite.
